DHS Sports Celebration Evening

The PE Department hosted the annual Sports Celebration Evening last week. The evening celebrated all of the outstanding achievements and sporting successes from the 2016/17 year.

The year 7 sportswoman of the year was Mia Faris. Mia has taken every opportunity presented to her this year representing the school for football, tennis, rounders and basketball.

The year 7 sportsman of the year was Josh Pike. Josh has committed to all aspects of DHS sport, representing the school for football, rugby, cricket, basketball and cross-country.

The sportswoman of the year for year 8 was Lila Hite. Lila’s outstanding commitment and attitude made her a deserved winner as she represents the school for netball, rounders and athletics.

Year 8 sportsman of the year went to Oliver Claydon who has collected this award for a second year running. Oliver is a hard-working and dedicated sportsman who has devoted time to represent the school for football, rugby, cricket, basketball and athletics.

The year 9 sportswoman of the year was Kelsey Sutherland. Kelsey is a truly outstanding athlete who won the 100m, high jump and relay at the district athletic competition.

The year 9 sportsman of the year was Jonathon Bond. Jonathon is a well-rounded sportsman with a modest attitude. He has had a brilliant year for the school playing for the football, rugby, basketball and cricket teams.

Eli Middleton was the worthy winner of the year 10 sportswoman of the year. Eli has been hugely successful being part of the district winning netball and athletics team. She also represented the school rounders and basketball team.

Thomas Nederpel won the award for year 10 sportsman of the year. Thomas is turning into a sensational athlete who is captain of the basketball team. As well as excelling in basketball, he also commits himself to various other sports and represents the school teams for football, rugby, cricket and athletics.

The year 11 sportswoman of the year was Shelby Harris. Shelby’s achievements within school sport and beyond have been formidable. She has represented the school for netball and rounders as well as representing England U19 for Netball.

Matt Wratting was the year 11 sportsman of the year. Matt has contributed a huge amount to Durrington sport. He is a key asset to the school basketball and cricket team and also represents the school for athletics.
